Shane Grabenstein - Guitarist
Shane is from a small town in Nebraska where he grew
up in the choir-loft as his mother directed the church
choir. He learned to love the music that surrounded his
up-bringing. From his 101 year old Great-Grand father
playing the juice harp and the harmonica, to hearing his
father strum that Gibson 12 string guitar, Shane
absorbed the harmonies that resonate in his music
today.
Shane, along with his brothers and cousin, performed a
brass and vocal quartet of Sweet Georgia Brown to
reach the state music contest. Music was a given in
high school as Shane’s aunt was the band and choir
director. Shane learned to play the trombone at half-
time with his football pads still on. He was in the swing
choir and sang lead in the barbershop ensemble. His
greatest musical acclaim is singing at Carnegie Hall in
New York City.
After relocating to Phoenix, Shane studied jazz guitar,
blending his love for disco and funk with his background
of folk, rock and jazz music.
Shane met Mercer Lee and Theresa Havard in the soon
to be group Valley Fever. Although that venture did not
succeed, the bond had been created. AKAThisIsUs
