John Ford - Vocalist

Born in Washington D.C., John Ford has always had
talent.  He sang in numerous clubs in the area
including the Triples Nite Club, the Classics and I -
Bex.  It was at the Triples Nite Club at the age of 24
that he was noticed by Atlantic Records and asked to
record. Unfortunately, he lost the card given to him
and missed his opportunity. He wasn’t idle however;
he played in many theaters in plays such as “Pin
Points.” It was by a fellow member of the Rhema
Christian Center Choir that he heard of Wellington &
Company and asked for an audition. Mercer Lee,
impressed by John’s voice, immediately gave him a
spot in the band.

John had no problem talking to the crowd. He was a
natural. His first show was the Dunbar Class Reunion
in Lynchburg, VA, where John wooed the crowd with
“When Something is Wrong With My Baby,” by Sam
and Dave.
