George Hamilton - Singer/Entertainer
A master entertainer with a warm and winning
personality, George Hamilton, has performed with big
name entertainers such as Bill Cosby, Kingston Trio,
Peter, Paul, and Mary, Phyllis Diller, Smothers
Brothers, Whispers, Carlos Santana, Sylvester
Stewart of Sly and the Family Stone. He’s performed
with Cybil Sheppard and Chris McDonald in “Telling
Secrets,” a movie made for TV in 1996. George
Hamilton was the opening act for popular artists like
Vic Damone and Engelbert Humperdinck. George and
Teddy, Beach Boys, and Diana Ross and the
Supremes amongst others were headlining acts for
Stevie Wonder’s 1963 Dedication Concert at the Cow
Palace in San Francisco.
The buzz quickly spread through San Francisco.
“George and Teddy” were known as the most dynamic
act around the world. While attending a “George and
Teddy” performance, you would find yourself amongst
celebrities like Fred Astaire, George Burns, Connie
Stevens, Nancy Sinatra, Bruce Lee, Henry Silver,
Lenny Bruce, Red Skelton, Johnny Mathis, Vince
Edwards, Ann Margret, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Clint
Eastwood to name just a few.
George Hamilton and Teddy Brown signed a
recording contract with Moe Austin, President of
Warner Brother’s Record Company. One of the
albums was titled “George and Teddy Live at Ciros”
produced by Jimmy Bowen. Later Hamilton signed with
Chuck Gregory at Mammoth Records and produced
the album “George and Teddy Live from the Condor
in San Francisco.” Gregory signed Hamilton for a
second time at Polydor Records. George Hamilton
later signed with MGM Records and worked with Mike
Kirb. Several years later George Hamilton signed a
five year contract with Ben Scotti of Scotti Brother’s
Records. During his remarkable 40 year career,
Hamilton has worked for a long list of entertainers
which include Dionne Warrick, Diana Ross, Righteous
Brothers, Jan and Dean, Ronettes, Marvin Gaye, and
his close friend George Benson. George Hamilton has
worked with notable producers including Phil Spector
(Phillips Records), Jimmy Bowen (Warner Brothers),
Ross Regen (Artist), and Chuck Gregory
(Paramount). At Warner Brothers the multi-talented
Sonny Bono was George Hamilton’s A and R musical
director. The legendary comedian and once personal
friend, Redd Foxx invited Hamilton to star in an
episode of the popular television show, “Sanford and
Son.” A well traveled entertainer, Hamilton toured
through Europe with a young group of guys known to
everyone as the Beatles.
Today George Hamilton is considered one of Arizona’
s best kept secrets. Being an entertainer in the valley
for the past 30 plus years, there aren’t too many
places George Hamilton can go without being
recognized by a fan of today or admirer of his earlier
music and movies. He is a highly respected social
figure and loved by so many in Arizona.
