David "Marq" Wells - Saxophonist, Recording Artist

David "Marq" Wells came to Baltimore, Maryland from
Minnesota, playing tenor saxophone for various
bands. David auditioned for Wellington & Company,
although he would not be able to commit to the band
for at least six months because he was out of state.
Mercer Lee kept the lead saxophone position open
until David returned. He quickly became a permanent
member of Wellington and Company Band and Show.

David's extraordinary talent on the saxophone and
EWI wind synthesizer made him invaluable to
Wellington and Company. David played clarinet and
alto saxophone in productions of “Ain't Misbehavin'” at
the Place Des Artes' in Montreal, Canada, and
Howard University. He played clarinet, bass clarinet,
flute, and tenor saxophone in a production of “Jelly's
Last Jam” at Howard University. David played clarinet,
tenor saxophone and flute in school productions of
West Side Story, Chorus Line, Carousel, and Jacque
Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris.

David has performed with Maysa Leak, Ledisi, Brian
Culbertson, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Alexander O'Neal,
Spur of the Moment, Cabo Frio, The David Bach
Consort, David Dyson Experience, and many others.

Being coerced into singing for Wellington and
Company, David became a hit singing Marvin Gaye's
"Let's Get It On" and Ray Charles' "I'll Take Care of
You".

David Marq has now recorded under the label
Alexscar Records.  His first CD,
The Hit It Project, is in
stores now.  He is a valuable asset to AKAThisIsUs.
