Aronda Stovall - Singer, Dancer, Flutist
Aronda Stovall stayed virtually unknown in the main
stream of the music world until she met Mercer in
1988. It was not until discussing a division Christmas
party that the conversation of her having musical
talent was brought up. Aronda mentioned that she
played a little bit of flute, sang a little, and had a few
dance moves.
Although she did not perform at the Christmas party,
she was surprised to be asked by Mercer to audition
for Wellington and Company. Not only did she make
the group, she became the second flutist to David
"Marq" Wells, one of the choreographed female
dancers, an all around percussionist, and, when
needed, the third keyboard player. She had no
problem with harmonization or singing lead voice on
any song she asked given to sing.
In 1990 Aronda introduced the vocalist, Theresa
Havard, to the group. Aronda, along with Theresa
Havard, and Maretta Brooks comprised the three
choreographed dancers that were one of the main
features of Wellington and Company Band and Show.
