Andrew Havard - Percussionist
Andrew's first venture into music was in middle school
playing the Trombone in his school band, but it didn't
go very far and he pursued other interests until
College. While studying for Architecture, he drafted a
design for a "Rat Pack" Supper club which was to be
built in Casa Grande, AZ. However, during his
studies, he became entranced with Capoeira and his
interest in music began anew. As well as learning the
movements and traditions associated with this martial
art, he learned the music, the songs, and the
instruments associated with them. Being a man of his
hands, however, he wasn't just satisfied with learning
such instruments as the berimbau, pandeiro, and
caxixi, but he hand crafted his own instruments to
play, including his own set of Atabaque drums.
Impressed by his skills, he was invited to join
AKAThisIsUs in 2010 as a percussionist.
